Welcome to the Website of Hutt Radio 106.1FM, a collection of 30 or so Hutt residents and enthusiasts who believe in a REAL voice for one of the largest population centres in NZ - not served by a REAL community radio station - the Hutt Valley.
Hutt Radio is a not-for-profit Trust staffed entirely by volunteers and operating in the Hutt Valley from studios in Naenae. We are the only full strength radio station located in and broadcasting to the Hutt Valley, from a trasmitter on the hills of Maungaraki. Nice but windy! Presently we are carrying the BBC World Service on an around-the-clock basis, but have local break-outs from around 7am to 11ish pm daily.
Our income is through grants, donations and a limited amount of advertising. We try to cater particularly to the listening interests of the mature audience. We carry local, national and international news bulletins and a mix of easy listening music and intelligent talk. We offer the opportunity of free publicity to the activities of local organisations involved in the arts and recreation, sports and heritage preservation
Hutt Radio will be a 'Huttcentric' station - not just a station based in the Hutt trying to serve Wellington as a region. We are a Full-Power station - not Low Power (LPFM) with only very limited coverage. Our Advertising Rates are very reasonable! We operate in partnership with the BBC World Service, who we transmit when not broadcasting local Hutt Valley content.
