Mike Dee

Programme Director. Presenting career started in 1972, at Radio Otago part time, then 2ZM in Wellington in 1973 after being "discovered" by ZM's John Stier - DJ'ing at Wellington's famed Lion Tavern. Product/victim of RNZ Training School, 1975.

Previous Stations: 2ZM, Radio Waikato, Radio Windy & The Breeze.

Set up and ran limited duration FM stations for 2ZM (first FM station in NZ!) and Radio Windy.

Also assisted setup of IRN (Independent Radio News) then head of News Presentation and in charge of presenters & training for 2 years in the late 80s.

On-air slots during career, Nights, Afternoons, Breakfast and Afternoon Drive.

Mike has run award winning promotions, written and produced songs, appeared on several Telethons. In-demand commercial ‘Voice” for Radio, TV Commercials and documentaries.

Programming/Management experience: Music Director (6 years), Assistant Programme Director (2 years), Programme Director (5 years) at The Breeze.

Involved with Hutt Radio estabishment since 1999.

Also fitted in part-time career as Bass Player in various Wellington rock bands from 1969 to 1989! Total of 38 years in radio.

Loves everything but elevator music. Host of Big Print Radio 10-2pm every day except Wednesday. (News for sight impaired, current affairs & community news).

Atround his Programme Director duties, Mike also presents  Sundays 2-5pm ("Groovin' on a Sunday Afternoon").
